I took some lessons years ago, and the pro literally had me face completely away from the target with my feet pointed 180° backwards, and had me swing easy that way, just to teach me what it feels like to swing inside out and hit a draw. Amazingly, I didn't kill myself, and I hit a draw. Your drill isn't nearly as weird as that was. I will have to try it in my next driving range session. Hell, if it works, I won't be too embarrassed to use it on the course.

Driver distance : One key to drive distance is hitting the most efficient apex for your speed assuming normal wind conditions. Yes - you can lose distance with pop-ups , but you lose more distance with long rolls than allowing the ball to fly to it’s max distance and then drop.

As an engineer this does not make sense. Lets put 10 layers of lead tape on and see what difference that makes? My old mate had a driver with a so say boron insert in the bottom of the steel shaft. After many years of bragging about how good it was he replaced the driver and had one with a graphite shaft. Within a few weeks this was the best thing since sliced bread.

One thing a pro said to me once to straighten up my shots and stop pulling left is to downswing the club along a line that would equate to 1 o'clock (if 12 o'clock is straight down the middle). Is this just another way of achieving the same thing?

Nothing new about that. It's the swing that Jim Venetos has been teaching for over 30 years. Closed stance, weight on front foot gives a strong lead side and prevents over the top.

I used this today Alex and hit the ball the best of 2024 so far! Thx! I have a question for your channel. I STRUGGLE when have a dogleg L and I hit ball to middle/ right part of fairway and have to hit it back to the left. It feels like I’m hitting ACROSS my body and often I flare it R or hit a push slice. I’m thinking it’s alignment issue but don’t know how to fix/help myself. Brian in Pennsylvania USA

Not that far-fetched. Ben Hogan showed the driver stance with the right foot placed behind the left at alignment in "Five Lessons," although not as exaggerated as this. I'm tempted to experiment as I sometimes slice the driver. 🤔

Alex my driving isn’t that great I’ll slice or hook the ball to the left. But when I use a 3 wood or hybrid my contact with the ball is good goes further and straight. What can I do to fix my swing with driver

Alex, love your channel. The problem I have with this swing is that I have difficulty closing the face at impact leading to a push. Am I not turning the hands over?

That looks like a lot more time that the club is rotating before contact. Thus it should result in more headspeed
